June for Small Businesses | Virtual Assistant for Photographers
So, um, I hate to be the one who brings this up, but …
~ checks calendar for the 10th time today ~
It’s JUNE! 😯
Which means we are officially about halfway through this year.
If I had to sum up my first half of 2024 in a few words, I would describe it as …
Crazy business growth, figuring out social media content all over again, getting back to the gym and listening to romcoms on audible!
My 2024 in review (so far!)
First up, here are a few things I’m celebrating this year (aka – the wins / the amazing!!)
#1 – I started working out again! Part of having a medically complex child is putting yourself on the back burner. My son had a massive surgery for Craniosynostosis in November, and now he’s healed, it’s been time for me to focus on myself again. My fav form of exercise is swimming laps and I absolutely love how good it makes me feel.
#2 - We pitched the concept of a Sleep Away Camp for Photographers, and it was met with SUCH enthusiasm. It’s a lot of work to pull it all together, but we love every second. We’re excited to be able to bring the benefit of having a VA to more photographers. (ps: sign up here if you wanna be in the loop)
#3 - We’ve introduced over a dozen new photographers to The Focus Fam! I know it’s kinda sappy but it makes me emotional. Every time I sit down to write out a welcome card, or pop it in our little neighborhood mailbox - we’re just so grateful to step in stride next to you as you grow.
Ok, now for the juicy part!
Here are a few things that have happened this year that I would describe as downright NOT FUN– (aka, the not-wins!).
#1 – My health has been very up and down again. In the past 4 years I’ve had preeclampsia twice, had two babies, a miscarriage, and walked through a very major/difficult surgery with my kiddo. (Did i forget the pandemic too? lol) The stress caught up with me, and I’ve been feelin’ it this year. When you’ve got chronic illness this stuff just affects you. Good news is, I’m making strides to feel better every day. But IYKYK about chronic health stuff.
#2 - I’ve had a few moments of self-doubt along the way this year. From difficult clients (which yes, EVERYONE deals with) to growing pains- there have been a few moments I feel that imposter syndrome sneakin’ in. Just keeping it totally real with ya.
#3 - Figuring out balance with two toddlers around the house. The “tiny kid era” is such an intense, fast paced season of life. And figuring out how to juggle two full time jobs and two tiny toddlers in one house, is a constant jigsaw puzzle. I’m grateful for great childcare and flexible hours, but it’s definitely a “thing” in this season, ya know?
