Let me introduce you to,

Katelyn
Katelyn Faye Photography

Why did you become a photographer?

I shot my first wedding when I was 15! Officially though, my business began in 2017!

Tell us your story? How you started until now?

In middle and high school, I was the girl who always had her digital camera on her! I loved documenting everything. I photographed a friend's sister's wedding when I was 15 for $100, with a borrowed DSLR. I fell in love with the idea that *THIS* could be my job when I grew up. Through high school, 4 years in the military and a couple of moves, I photographed everything I could, and am lucky enough now to be photographing weddings and elopements full time.

Who is your ideal client?

A laid back couple who just wants to have a good time at their wedding/elopement!

What is your WHY... what keeps you going in business? And why are you passionate about it?

I just genuinely have so much fun as a photographer. The people that I meet and the places that I get to go always keeps me feeling creative and excited. Why would I want to do anything else?

Where do you see your business in the next few years?

Continuing to serve couples coming to Las Vegas to elope and have the best time! Probably expanding my associate team as things grow!

Tell me about how you manage your work/life balance as a small business owner?

You won't catch me burning myself out because work/life balance is so important to me, not only for my own sake but to make sure that I am providing the best experience for my couples. I know my limits and I stick to them, even when it means turning away leads. When I rest, I REST, so that when I am working, I can be fully present.

Shooting or editing? Which one is your fav?

Shooting!

What do you listen to while you edit?

Movies/TV

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger photographer-self, what would it be?

I did not think that I'd ever make it as a full time photographer, so I think a little boost of confidence would have gone a long way! I'd tell her to just keep shooting, keep learning, you're doing it! It's happening!!

If you could give feedback to the photography community as a whole... what is one positive thing you'd say? And one constructive criticism?

I'm loving all of the creativity with trends, lately I've been feeling so inspired to create fun, artsy images for my couples! So while we're on the topic of trends, I'll say, if you're not into one (or any), that's okay too! Try out what you like, leave what you don't, and let people have fun with their art.

If you had no obstacles (fear, money, mindset etc) - what would you do next?

I'd post more everyday content on social media. I've never really felt like my life is quite interesting enough but when I *have* been consistent about it, I've made really cool connections!

What is your favorite way to unwind/relax? (Yes, scrolling on tiktok is an acceptable answer haha)

Watching trashy reality television (currently binging Housewives)

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Some kind of loaded up breakfast sandwich.

You're stranded on a desert island... what one item are you taking with you??

SPF
