A Guide To Mini Sessions | Virtual Assistant For Photographers

It’s that time of year again and the last few weeks have been FILLED TO THE BRIM with mini session prep for us. We're talking dozens of forms, emails, schedulers... all. the. things. It’s that season where everything moves at lightning speed, and staying organized is the only way to stay afloat.

And while it's on the brain, I figured I'd share some of the secret sauce to making these sessions go smoothly:

A Guide To Mini Sessions

️PLAN DETAILS IN ADVANCE

Every detail counts!! The earlier you plan, the less time you’ll spend going back and forth, making adjustments in systems like HoneyBook or Dubsado. Write everything down from client journey to session details - and make sure every detail is clearly noted somewhere!

AUTOMATE IT

You knowwwwww how much we LOVE automation!! Mini session clients aren't going to get the same hands-on-customer-service as your full clients. And, that’s okay!! That’s normal! High volume means less 1-on-1 time, but that does NOT have to mean low-quality experience. You CAN give them the SAME quality client experience your full session clients get with clear automations and careful planning!

HAVE FIRM BOUNDARIES

This is a BIG one! Stick to your schedule, don't offer extras for free, and don't offer refunds/reschedules. That is how you stay sane while still making $$$ and enjoying the process.

UPSELL GALLERIES

As long as you educate in the prep emails... it isn't salesy. The people who want to (me, usually) will. And the people who don't... won't. You’ve got this!!

QUICK TURNAROUND

Set yourself up to have a fast turnaround time for mini sessions! Find consistent lighting, hire an editor... whatever you gotta do. It's a big selling point for the minis market.
